Havering Ladies 2s faced a strong Witham side and, despite a resilient performance, fell to a 4–1 defeat.

Witham started brightly, capitalising on early pressure with a skilful forward driving straight through the middle to open the scoring. Their momentum continued, and a powerful second strike soon doubled their lead.

Despite the challenging start, Havering’s defence raised their game. Goalkeeper Sophie McCoy pulled off a string of excellent saves, while defenders Emilie Malloy, Sue Bartlett, Sacha Bennett-Ford, Nic Earl, and Wendy Schofield worked tirelessly to prevent further goals before the break.

Havering began to find rhythm in midfield, with Snowy Yii producing standout tackles and distributing the ball well to attacking trio Emma Isherwood, Alex Semon, and Rae Ahmad. Jessie Watson added pace and purpose on the right, driving the team forward.

Their persistence paid off when Snowy capped her impressive first half with her first-ever goal for Havering — and in the UK hockey league — firing home a fantastic strike to pull the score back to 2–1 at half-time.

Witham, however, emerged strongly again after the break. A superb reverse-stick shot into the top corner — admired by players from both sides — restored their two-goal advantage.

Havering worked hard to push forward, with Katie Mann, Sophia-Rae Ahmad, and Sophie Bridger battling in midfield to move the ball up the pitch, but Witham’s pressure remained relentless. A final goal from a well-worked short corner sealed their 4–1 victory.

Despite the loss, Havering showed determination, defensive grit, and moments of real promise — a performance to build on for the matches ahead.
