Brentwood Ladies 2's - 3 Havering Ladies 2's - 3

This 3rd and 4th place clash of division 1 resulted in 5 goals last time these teams met and it was clear from the start that this match had the potential to produce a lot of goals when Brentwood opened the scoring in the first minutes of the game. Havering were determined in their response , with Alex Semon dribbling the ball past many opponents from the whistle and earning a short corner. Semon received the ball and passed to Watley who placed the ball in the left corner of the goal to draw level and put the score at 1-1 within 5 minutes of the game starting. Both teams battled hard and the younger Brentwood side worked the Havering defence and midfield. But Havering’s persistence paid off when Nicki Cast’s cross on the right hand side found Watley in the D , who deflected it on to Saffron Hervey who controlled it well and found the back of the net. Havering went in to half time 1-2 ahead. However, Brentwood came out of the break very strong and scored 2 goals In quick succession taking the score To 3-1 and Havering on the back foot. Sue Bartlett, an outfield player was in goal and was worked hard. Havering’s absolute grit and determination and team spirit shone through and they were awarded with a penalty corner which influential Alex Semon took a straight stroke on to draw the score level at 3-3, which it remained. Both teams disappointed not to get the much needed 3 points but a thrilling game .
