L1 vs Kings and Alleyns

Havering Ladies hosted second in the table Kings and Alleyns at Campion. Havering started strongly and an early penalty corner brought the opening goal, Sue Harwood netting. Havering continued to press and were unlucky not to add to their score, Emily Martin not quite getting on the end of a Pippa Wilson cross, Harwood going close again and Steph Prowse seeing a shot saved. Kings and Alleyns were quick on the break but in the first half Bukki Olodo, Zoe Bleakley, Louise Burgess, Prowse and Katie Griggs able to break down their attacking runs. Havering went in to the second half a goal to the good and added a second when Martin fired in a shot from the edge of the circle. Kings and Alleyns began to create more opportunities and pulled one back through a penalty stroke, the ball having hit a Havering defender on the line. Havering fought again and Harwood forced a good save from the visiting keeper. Havering keeper, Sophie McCoy made a few good saves to deny Kings and Alleyns but the constant pressure told and an equaliser was had. The game looked to be heading for a draw but with just minutes to go Kings and Alleyns capitalised on their pressure and went ahead. Havering tried to fight back and had a penalty corner awarded on the final whistle but the visitors cleared and took the points.
