L1 vs Sevenoaks

Havering Ladies hosted Sevenoaks Ladies 3s at Campion and despite having much of the play ended up 1-2 down. Sevenoaks started strongly and it took Havering a little while to settle into the game. Sevenoaks took the lead, neatly deflecting in a penalty corner routine. This helped Havering to focus themselves and they began to pass more accurately and to create opportunities. The equaliser came after good work by Sue Harwood and Steph Prowse was finished off by Katie Griggs slipping the ball under the advancing keeper. Havering almost took the lead soon after but Emily Martin's shot was stopped by a defender's foot on the line. Unfortunately Griggs put the ensuing penalty stroke just wide. Havering continued to work hard with Griggs, Emily Gilkes-Tarsey, Amelia Acreman and Zoe Bleakley running continuously in midfield. Prowse and Charlotte Chamberlin were quick to clear up any break throughs ably supported by Louise Burgess, Bukki Olodo and Wendy Schofield. Martin saw a couple of further chances saved and Havering went into half time level. The second half continued the same with Havering working hard in a very fast paced game but the extra subs that Sevenoaks had proved the difference as Havering began to tire and the visitors took the lead. Havering rallied again and Martin saw a shot go past the post. Prowse had a couple of penalty corner strikes saved right at the end of the match and Havering could not get the point they deserved.
