Haverings ladies 1s hosted their penultimate home game against Brentwood ladies 1s on Saturday. Although, already having won the league with three games to go, Havering needed to make sure their unbeaten streak stayed untouched, the pressure was on.

The first 15 minutes was tough, with goalie, Lucy Bree making some incredible saves, keeping the score at 0-0.

Once in Brentwood ‘s half Havering had relentless chances, but couldn’t bag that goal. Midfield players, Cat, Bethan and Tess working together to set Sue Haywood up for a 1 on 1 with Brentwood’s goalie 15 minutes into the game. Haywood with incredible composure, moving the ball wide, managing to slot the ball back post into the goal!

Brentwood pushed back almost straight away not letting Havering have the upper hand for long, scoring in a busy D 20 minutes in.

Havering’s ladies knew that Brentwood would come back trying to replicate the first two goal patterns, and they did, 2-2 with 15 minutes to go!

Back four defenders, Laura, Bukki, Lou and Tilly battled the waves of attacks from Brentwood’s strikers. Not letting any chances to be had.

With 5 minutes to go Havering having majority of possession in Brentwood D, Haywood goes for another goal. However, it is stopped on the line by a Brentwood defenders foot, some may say on purpose. Penalty flick awarded.

Bethan Ishewood stepped up calm and collected, knowing she will fool this goal keeper and win the game for Havering.

A tough battle and well deserved win, 3-2 to Havering. Keeping their unbeaten streak for 20 games.
