Havering vs Crostyx

Havering Ladies hosted Crostyx Ladies, again with less subs than the visiting team. Havering started brightly, Bethan Isherwood putting Bukki Olodo through for an early shot which forced a good save from the Crostyx keeper. Havering dominated the early possession with Emily Gilkes-Tarsey, Emily Martin and Olodo being quick to stifle Crostyx and set Havering on the attack. Sue Harwood intercepted a defensive pass and put a lovely cross in but no Havering player could get on the end of it.
Crostyx tried hard to get into the game but Alex Semon, Charlotte Chamberlin, Laura Burke and Olodo worked well in the Havering defence to manage any potential attacks. Havering won several penalty corners but couldn’t get a decent shot on target. Izzy Purdie, Harwood and Martin kept causing problems with their runs forward whilst Tess Meehan, Ruby Lendon, Gilkes-Tarsey and Isherwood supported just behind them, picking up loose balls and setting up potential attacks.
Havering had the better of the first half but couldn’t convert their pressure into goals and that proved costly. Crostyx changed their structure going into the second half and them gave them a bit more space to build attacks. A quick passage of play found a Crostyx forward for once unmarked and the Havering defence were scrambling back but unfortunately not quite quickly enough and a good cross was met and placed well, beyond the reach of the advancing keeper, Lucy Bree. Havering were unsettled by this uncharacteristic lapse in concentration and fought off a couple more attacks with Bree making some good saves.
Havering began to gather themselves again and won another penalty corner but again failed to get a strong shot on goal. Havering looked very likely to get an equalizer but just couldn’t get strong enough shots on target. Another quick break by Crostyx led to a second goal and Havering were unable to come back from that.
