After numerous changes in personnel and a new captain leading the squad, the team were eager to take to the field and prove their worth against new comers Brentwood who had been relegated from the division above
The match started out in an even manner, with a lot of transfer in possession from both teams in the midfield. However, Brentwood would strike first, with the away striker scoring from open play and shortly afterwards from a short corner. Saves from 3s keeper James Farrell ensured that the boys went into halftime only 2-0 down.
After a change in formation, Havering seemed to play in a lot more of a fluid manner, stringing together a number of attacks and winning a short corner, which was promptly dispatched by newcome Andy Greenhalgh. However, Brentwood would be the more clinical of the two teams (despite creating fewer clear cut chances) as they scored a number of quality goals to take the result out of Havering’s reach. Havering were unfortunate not to add to their tally after great link up from Toby John and Lucas Afteni however
A strong performance against quality opposition, the Havering 3s were disappointed with the result but happy with the effort, and ultimately excited to get the season underway!
