Havering II’s vs Witham II’s

Havering were looking to build on the impressive performance vs Old Loughts last week with a win against a high-flying Witham team. Both teams started the game slowly with Witham causing several problems with their high pressing formation. This caused several short corners until Witham finally capitalised on the pressure created. However, luckily for Havering, this was to be ruled out due to the ball not leaving the D - this happened several times for Witham.

Havering increased their intensity after the early scare with spurts of nice build up play. This eventually led to the ball finding Adam Willett 6 yards out who passed it to Liam Purton who then slotted it past the keeper to make the score 1-0.

However, Witham were far from out of it. 3 minutes later the ball was not cleared properly due to some miscommunication, and they pounced on the opportunity to level the score 1-1. Then as the half time whistle went Witham were awarded another short corner which was well worked but again the ball didn’t leave the D. The second half was very tense with not many chances falling to either side with Havering keeper, Graham Walker, keeping the scores level. Havering were fortunate to get a point but did well to hold on to a resilient Witham side. With Waltham Forest beating Witham 1’s, Havering need to beat Waltham Forest next Saturday to stand any chance of finishing 2nd.
