Havering were looking to continue their good form going into Saturday with a positive result in the local derby vs Upminster the previous weekend vs bottom of the table Tendring.
The game was a cagey affair with neither Havering or Tendring able to cause too many problems to each other’s back line. With many missed placed passes and sloppy decision making, only one opportunity came the way of Havering with Liam Purton sliding the ball across to the back post to find Sam Green but the ball was slightly too fast and his diving shot hit the side netting.
In the second half Havering found their rhythm, with a well executed move from the defence to offence. Stand in goalkeeper Jack Barlow found Ryan Lee who played the ball up the pitch finding Sam Green after some good interplay between Dan Downes and Matt Kennedy, who then found Liam Purton whom slid the ball past the defenders to meet an on rushing Matt Kennedy who had the simplest of tasks of slotting the ball into the back of the Tendring goal to make it 1-0.
Despite the gap in the table, Tendring offered several threats with a flurry of short corners well saved by Jack Barlow, keeping Havering in the game and leading to their eventual victory against against a well drilled opposition.
