A double from veteran Mike Hinton inspired Havering to a crucial win against bottom of the table Witham.
Andy Meehan opened the scoring for the hosts with a superb individual effort. Hinton then doubled Havering's lead with a fine reverse-stick strike from a tight angle.
The visitors best period of the game came just before half-time when they won a succession of short-corners but the Havering defence held firm to take a 2-0 lead into the break.
Roger Hiett scored the crucial third goal of the game with a drag-flick from a short-corner and then set up Hinton's second, a deflection into the roof of the net,also from a short-corner. Right-wing Matthew Kennedy made it five as he converted from close range to see Havering into the winter break with a comfortable win.
