Havering denied win by league leaders

A second half comeback from league leaders Chelmsford denied Havering a win after a strong performance from the hosts.

The visitors took an early lead from a short corner effort that Havering 'keeper Luke Ray will be disappointed not to have kept out.

Havering soon hit back through Matthew Kennedy. Roger Hiett then gave Havering the lead from the penalty spot after Mike Caruana-Smith's goal bound effort struck a defender's foot on the line. The hosts extended their lead when Mike Hinton finished clinically after a good run from Andy Meehan.

Chelmsford hit back from a counter attack just before half-time to reduce the deficit to one goal.

Havering failed to replicate their first half performance following the break and found themselves under constant pressure. Chelmsford drew level following another swift counter attack as the Havering defence waited for a whistle that never came. The visitors then took the lead through a fortunate deflection from long-range.

Now behind, Havering began to tire and failed to apply any meaningful pressure on Chelmsford as the league leaders held on to maintain their four point lead at the top of the table.
