Havering Men’s 1st XI vs Bishop Stortford 1st XI
Havering hosted Bishop Stortford at Campion School.
The match started off with both teams testing each other cautiously. The away team grew into the game however and it was only due to some resolute defending from Havering that kept the scoreline at 0-0. Eventually, the pressure grew too much and Stortford scored from a penalty corner.
The home side were unfazed however and began to fashion their own chances.
Captain Alex Lee then drove from halfway line past several Stortford players, with his final ball finding forward Chris Dunn at the top of the D who duly pushed the ball past the opposition keeper to level the score.
After the half time interval, the game carried on in the same vein with Havering defending well and trying to capitalise on the counter attack. Unfortunately, a Stortford forward found a bit too much time in the Havering D and his shot rifled past keeper Andy Gaut into the top right corner. Havering continued to fashion the odd half chance but could not convert any and the scoreline ended 2-1 to Stortford.
