Havering Men’s 1st XI vs Waltham Forest 1st XI
Havering hosted Waltham Forest looking to make their first back-to-back victories of the season.
The home side started brightly and the first breakthrough came within the first ten minutes of the match. A touch from Alex Defroand in the midfield found its way to Harry Andrews at the top of the D. Some nice skills took it away from his defender and his strike found the bottom corner of the Forest net, giving the home side a 1-0 lead.
Not much further of note happened in the first half, save from some excellent keeping from Graham Walker who denied the Forest forward from a 1-on-1 opportunity and the home side went into the break with their lead intact.
This changed shortly after the break however. The away side won their first corner of the match, their pass to the far post was deflected in and resulted in a goal.
They grew in momentum and swiftly countered again and scored a second on the break.
In a bid to seek an equaliser, the decision was made to play with 11 outfield players but like in the reverse fixture, Forest found a way through and put one into an empty net to make the final score 3-1.
Havering travel to St Albans next weekend.
