Havering vs St Albans

After a victorious season last year which saw havering being promoted into division 1 South, Havering’s first game of the season finds them away to St Albans who narrowly missed out on promotion finishing second in this league last season.

Hoping to continue their winning ways, Havering started on the back foot as St Albans hit the post 15 minutes in, with the 25 degree heat beaming down on us we managed to go in at the break 0-0!

With the second half underway, Havering pressing hard for the first 10’minutes of the half. This was meet back St Albans pressing high and wide bringing the game back to Havering, with a great defensive interception Havering broke the St Albans line and headed up the pitch with a great counter attack.A drill straight off the training pitch saw Luke Joslin picking the ball up on the T spot to find a free Liam Appleyard at the top of the D, who tidily finished the ball in the bottom left corner.

Havering being 1-0 up, saw St Albans bounce back strongly, equalising just 4 minutes after, where the ball took an unfortunate deflection off our defender and fell straight into the path of their striker, who tapped the ball in the back of the net.

With 5 minutes to go and St Albans looking for the win, they continued to press Havering by winning a short corner.
A straight flick from the top of the D, saw them take the lead with a tough to clear bounce of the ball, unfortunately going under the kicker of the goal keeper!

It was a great first performance of the season for the 1’s with an unfavourable outcome, hoping to bring the points next week.
