First game of the season

Havering come into a new season with a new challenge as they look to bounce back after a poor season with an away trip to Saffron Warden.

Havering started strongly with Harry Andrew's reverse shot just going over the bar, but Havering were dealt an early blow due to a fast-paced counter leading to an early goal for the home team. Havering quickly responded with Adam Lumbers scoring from a well-worked short corner levelling the score line. Andy Gaut pulled off some crucial saves to keep the scores level. Havering continued to press Saffron Warden causing mistakes from the home team. Harry Andrews continued to threaten the Saffron Warden defence with his deflection being well saved by the Warden keeper. Havering’s persistence paid off as they completed the first-half comeback as Liam Appleyard’s reverse shot found its way into the back of the net to give the away side the lead going into the second half.

Havering’s formation continued to trouble the Warden defence as Adam Lumbers scored his second of the game from another short corner. Warden lacked much-attacking threat in the second half due to the intensity of the Havering team. Alex Lee capped off a positive performance for Havering after another short corner routine paid off as he deflected the ball on the post to make it 4-1. Havering, then went more defensive to consolidate the lead moving to a 4-4-2 leading the game to finish at 4-1.

Havering will look to continue this form into the next game vs Witham and make it 6 points from 6.
