Braintree vs Havering Ladies 2's

On Saturday 4th November Havering ladies 2s were away to Braintree looking to get back to winning ways at at a very wet and windy game. Havering started the game strongly with great running down the left hand wing from Ruby Lendon who linked up well with Cidbey Payton in centre mid to try and get Havering into the Braintree D. Earning Havering a short corner the away team were unlucky not to score. Braintree looked to try and break back down the pitch but great tackles from Tasha Mangion and great calm on the ball under pressure from Wendy Schofield meant Braintree were unable to score. Havering continued to put pressure on Braintree earning two more short corners in the first half, but unfortunately were unable to convert.
Going into the second half Havering knew it would be key to convert their chances in the opposing D to a goal. Braintree came on the second half with renewed pressure looking to press further on the Havering 16 making it harder for Havering to secure the ball out. Great positioning from Cidney Payton down the left mid meant Nicola Earl was able to pass the ball out from a 16, Cidney and Alison linked up well down the putch leading to Cidney having a great shot from the top of the D scoring for Havering bringing the score to 0-1.The team continued to work very hard and well together with excellent running from Teagan Bunn up front with Saffron Harvey who each had a couple of breaks into the Braintree 25 and were unfortunate not to come away with more. The Havering defence continued to battle away with some great saves from Louisa Sillet in goal keeping Havering in the lead. The game ended 1-0 to Havering, the team prevailing in terrible rain and on a slow pitch in a great team effort, however player of the match went to Cidney Payton for excellent running and scoring the winning goal!
