Wapping Ladies 4's - 1 havering Ladies - 5
Havering Ladies travelled to Wapping to play their 4th team having disappointingly drawn the earlier fixture. However it was Wapping who began the stronger immediately putting Havering under pressure. The first half definitely belonged to the hosts as they prevented Havering from getting into their stride and took the lead through a penalty corner. Keeper Tamara Bailey made several other saves to keep the scoreline down. Havering had a couple of chances to draw level but both Emma Isherwood and Catherine Semon put shots wide. The second half saw Havering come out with a more determined attitude and Wapping rarely made it into the Havering half with Steph Prowse, Sue Harwood, Wendy Schofield and Hollie Dawkins playing much more assuredly when they did and easily breaking down the attacks. The equaliser came when Vicky Lynch picked up the ball in the circle, made a shot and Lauren Earle was on hand to squeeze the saved ball into the goal from a very tight angle. Havering continued to apply pressure and were awarded a penalty stroke after Lynch and Nicola Earl's pressure caused a defender to kick the ball on the line. Isherwood sent the ball past the keeper and Havering went into the lead. They then began to play like a team challenging for promotion. Earl kept making great runs down the right wing, Leah Carter's runs from the back continually caused problems and with Lynch, Semon, Amelia Acreman and Emily Gilkes-Tarsey holding firm and surging forward in midfield Wapping began to crumble. Acreman's pass found Semon at the top of the circle, she turned the defender and fired home a cracking strike from the top of the circle for Havering's third. It was Lauren's runs that brought about the next two, both came as she beat several defenders to slip the ball back to where Isherwood was waiting to sweep the ball into to gain her hat-trick. It was a much improved second half performance and Havering will hope to play like that for the whole match as they go away to Romford next week.
