Hattrick hero Sue Harwood leads the way as Ladies 1's keep up the pressure at the top of Essex Prem

Havering Ladies 5 Basildon Ladies 0
Looking to build on their recent run of good results Havering Ladies played host to Basildon 2s. From the start Havering attacked and were soon rewarded with a penalty corner. Catherine Semon slipped the ball to Emma Isherwood who saw her strike lift off the keeper's pads where Sue Harwood was on hand to see the ball over the line. Havering quickly added a second, again from a penalty corner. This time Emma passed the ball back to Catherine who struck it into the corner. Havering continued to press and earned a few more penalty corners but couldn't quite convert them, Amelia Acreman was unlucky to put a deflection just wide. Lauren Earle and Vicky Lynch both made several good runs but the final pass wasn't forthcoming. Basildon began to pull themselves together and get into the Havering half but Leah Carter, Steph Wigham and Harwood soon broke down potential attacks. A third goal came from another penalty corner, Semon's strike to the left was deflected in by Harwood. Wendy Schofield and Hollie Dawkins picked up attacks down the wings and converted them into Havering attacks but again the final ball just would not come. Havering were happy to go into the second half 3-0 up but knew a bit more effort would bring rewards. Havering restarted strongly again but Basildon were more determined in defence and made it hard for them to find a way through. It was another penalty corner that brought the fourth goal, Semon again passing to Isherwood who again saw her strike hit the keeper for Harwood to tap in on the post for her hat-trick. Basildon almost pulled one back when they were awarded a penalty stroke after their forward was judged to have been deliberately brought down by Wigham who received a yellow card. Havering keeper Tamara Bailey stood firm and saved. Nic Earl began to link up well down the right hand side and Acreman and Emily Gilkes-Tarsey made headway down the left and balls began to find their way into the circle. Another penalty corner was converted for Havering's fifth and final goal as Semon saw her strike deflect high into the net off a defender's stick. It was a good result for second placed Havering who must continue to work hard to keep the pressure on the League leaders.
