It was another tricky week for Havering Ladies as they hosted Chelmsford 3s. Havering made a slow start and Chelmsford dominated the play but strong defending from Steph Prowse prevented them from getting any shots on target. Havering were then unlucky to lose Alex Semon to a knee injury which looks like keeping her out for quite a few weeks. Havering struggled to get themselves into the game but found a way into the circle where they were awarded a penalty corner. Catherine Semon struck the ball well into the far corner to give Havering the lead. Havering held onto that lead for the remainder of the first half. The second half continued in the same vein with Havering struggling to find form and get their passing going. Despite Steph and Sue Harwood defending well Chelmsford managed to pull a goal back. Tamara Bailey made some good saves to keep Havering in the game. The game seemed to be heading towards a draw but a forward run by Catherine found Steph in the circle. Steph's shot was saved as was Emma Isherwood's follow up shot but the ball then fell to Nic Earle who scored. Havering hung on for the last five minutes and came away with a needed but probably not deserved win. A better performance will be needed next week as Havering go to the league leaders Old Loughtonians.
