Ladies 1's survive a nervy end to their Old Southendian encounter to maintain the pressure on the Premier Div's top two teams

Old Southendian Ladies 1 havering Ladies - 2
Havering Ladies were away at Old Southendians who they had beaten 2-1 in the previous fixture. Havering started strongly and soon forced saves from the hosts' keeper, Alex Semon going close. Their efforts were rewarded with a penalty corner, which Vicky Lynch struck well going across the goal where Lauren Earle was waiting on the far post to deflect in and give Havering the lead. Old Southendians began to bring themselves back into the game but good saves from Tamara Bailey and a goal-line clearance by Steph Prowse prevented them from getting on the scoresheet. It was a brilliant team effort that brought about the second goal for Havering. Sue Harwood picked the ball up in defence, played it to Amelia Acreman who passed it to Emma Isherwood. Emma quickly released it to Alex Semon who drove into the circle committed the keeper and slipped the ball to Emma for a tap in. It was quick sharp hockey. The second half, like the previous week, saw Havering unable to sustain the quick passing they had done so well in the first half and they began to get bogged down in midfield. Steph, Sue, Leah Carter and Wendy Schofield worked hard to break down Old Southendian attacks and Lauren, Hollie Dawkins, Amelia and Gemma McKenzie-Cardy supported Catherine Semon, Monica Dubb and Vicky in their efforts to break through and create an attack but Havering could not add to their score. Old Southendians managed to pull one goal back and there was a tense end to the match as they were awarded a penalty corner on the final whistle. Fortunately for Havering it was put wide and they held on for the win to keep the pressure on the league leaders.
