Loughts grab the points to end Ladies 1's unbeaten run

Havering Ladies saw their unbeaten run come to a disappointing end in a home game against Old Loughts 3s. Losing 2 regular players within 24 hours of the game did not help but Steph Wigham coming in at short notice did a good job in the centre of defence. Havering took a while to get into their stride and were lucky when a Loughts goal was disallowed. Emma Isherwood, Alex Semon and Steph Prowse all squandered chances they would normally put away and it was Loughts who took the lead after some scrappy defending. Havering came out in the second half with a bit more determination and Isherwood forced an own goal when her hit into the circle clipped a defender's stick and beat the keeper. Loughts fought back and with Havering not closing down their players were able to take advantage of space on the pitch and they retook the lead. Soon after they increased their lead. Havering fought back and a penalty corner from Catherine Semon brought them back into the game. Another penalty corner strike from Catherine saw Havering draw back to level term at 3-3. The game looked like ending in a draw but it was Loughts who proved to have the more determined spirit scoring 2 further goals to leave the score Loughts 5 , Havering 3. Havering will have to work hard now to keep up pressure on the league leaders but previous games have shown they are capable of doing this.
