Havering Ladies 1s - 3 Brentwood Ladies 1's - 3
By Paul Johnson
A much improved second half performance earned Havering Ladies a 3-3 draw against Brentwood, at Campion.
Havering were slow to get into the game and keeper, Sophie McCoy was called into action early on, making several saves. A penalty corner gave the visitors the lead but Havering quickly fought back through a penalty corner of their own. Sue Harwood put the ball away from the rebound from Emily Gilkes-Tarsey's shot. Havering however could not capitalise and kept making simple errors thAt proved costly. Brentwood scored 2 more before half time and were looking strong. Havering began the second half with a much better attitude and began to put passes together. Harwood and Hollie Dawkins began to find room down the wings from midfield and Gilkes-Tarsey and Emily Martin were able to make space in the forward line to start creating chances. Harwood's quick free hit found Martin on the wing and her cross was neatly deflected in by Gilkes-Tarsey. Havering's defence of Charlotte Chamberlin, Wendy Schofield, Sam Cash and Nic Earle began to contain the Brentwood forwards. Katie Griggs took control in the centre of the pitch and her pass found Freya Rossington-Trottman in the circle. A poor tackle on her brought a penalty corner. Emma Isherwood's shot was initially saved but after a bit of a scramble, Gilkes-Tarsey crossed the ball and Tess Meehan tapped it over the line to bring about the equaliser. Havering then lost Schofield to a nasty injury, being hit in the mouth with a stick, but Dawkins covered well at the back. Brentwood had a flurry of attacks in the dying minutes but Havering held on for the draw.
