Tunbridge Wells 2's grab late equaliser to deny Havering

Tunbridge Wells Ladies 2's - 1 Havering Ladies 1s - 1

Havering travelled to Tunbridge Wells with 6 of their usual squad unavailable. However several 2s players stepped up and the performance did not reflect a very changed team. Havering again produced some strong performances and battled well throughout the match. They took the lead after Emily Martin put Nicki Cast through. Cast's driven cross was deflected into the goal by Emma Isherwood on the far post. Havering had a few other chances in the first half but couldn't quite find the space through the defence. Wells fought back but Laura Griffin, Alison Floyd, Sam Cash and Louise Burgess held firm in defence and keeper Sophie McCoy pulled off a string of crucial saves. The second half continued with both teams having chances. Sue Harwood, Charlotte Chamberlin, Nic Earle and Katie Griggs worked hard in midfield and Havering looked to be holding on for their first win of the season. It was not to be as Wells were awarded a penalty corner in the final minutes and converted it with a well struck shot. Martin was unlucky not to grab a winner in the dying seconds but her shot went just wide and Havering had to settle for a draw. Yet again Havering produced a spirited performance and should take heart from it.
