Late rally not enough for share of the points against a well organised Canterbury team

Havering were at home to Canterbury 2As. Having lost in the away fixture earlier in the season Havering were hoping to get something from the game this time around. Havering started brightly but in pressing forward allowed Canterbury to make a break which they capitalised on to take the lead. The visitors added a second soon after. Havering were determined and began to fight back. A penalty corner went begging as Emma Isherwood hit the crossbar and Alex Semon and Blaise Copeland both went close. A quick pass from Bethan Isherwood to Copeland allowed the latter to bat a player and find Sue Harwood. Harwood dribbled into the attacking circle and slipped the ball past the keeper and Emma Isherwood forced the ball over the line. Emily Martin made some great runs down the left hand side and almost forced an equaliser close on half time. Havering began the second half strongly but Canterbury were well organised and the match became a battling affair with both teams playing good hockey. Havering's defence of Steph Prowse, Charlotte Chamberlin, Bethan Isherwood and Wendy Schofield worked hard and keeper Sophie McCoy made some excellent saves. Catherine Semon, Martin, Harwood and Copeland battled in midfield and managed to create opportunities for Emma Isherwood, Katie Griggs and Alex Semon who all worked hard to try and convert those chances. The Canterbury defence worked equally hard and scrambled the ball away on several occasions. Canterbury seized a chance and put themselves further ahead. Havering continued to battle but chances went begging. On full time they were awarded a penalty corner which Copeland converted with a great strike but it was too late to grab a point and the game finished 3–2 to Canterbury.
