Improved second half performance not enough to save Havering from defeat

Havering Ladies travelled to Ashford this week. From the start they struggled to find the good form that has marked their recent games. Ashford took the lead, converting a penalty corner. Havering tried to get back into the game and were eventually rewarded with a penalty corner again. Anna Webb deflected in Emma Isherwood's strike to make things even. The first half continued a midfield battle with Blaise Copeland, Charlotte Chamberlin, Sue Harwood, Vicky Morrison and Webb working hard but Havering struggled to get the ball to their forwards. A mix up in defence allowed Ashford to take the lead just before half time. Havering stepped their game up in the second half and began to create chances. Webb, Emily Martin and Harwood all went close but the keeper scrambled them away to prevent Havering from getting back on the scoresheet. Steph Prowse, Chamberlin, Wendy Schofield and Bethan Isherwood worked hard in defence and Havering keeper Sophie McCoy made some great saves but could do nothing about the third Ashford goal. Havering could not find a way through the determined host defence and went disappointingly down 1-3.
