Ladies 1's miss out on four wins in a row

Havering Ladies travelled to Waltham Forest with 5 regular players unavailable but still hoping to continue their recent good run of results. It looked promising at the start with Havering taking an early lead through a penalty corner, Sue Harwood glancing in Anna Webb's shot. Waltham Forest struggled to get into the match as Havering dominated in midfield with Harwood, Lauren Earle, Webb and Bethan Isherwood working hard. Emily Gilkes- Tarsey and Katie Griggs made some good runs but the final ball just didn't run quite right to allow a shot on goal. Emma Isherwood saw a good penalty corner strike saved and Bethan Isherwood fired a strong reverse stick shot on the stroke of time for the first half but it was turned aside by a defender. The first half remained in Havering's favour. Waltham Forest reshaped after half time and were rewarded with a penalty corner which they converted for the equaliser. The Havering defence of Steph Prowse, Chris Noller, Wendy Schofield and Sue Bartlett broke down several attacks and goalkeeper Sophie McCoy pulled off a string of good saves. Havering battled back and Harwood almost put them ahead again but for a goal line clearance. Unfortunately it was Waltham Forest who went ahead with 5 minutes to go, a ball hitting the attacker's foot was missed and the goal allowed. Havering almost equalised in the dying minutes, Emma Isherwood seeing a penalty corner strike saved and then Bethan Isherwood saw her drag flick from a penalty corner also saved. Despite the loss Havering played well and will hope to have more luck when they host Southend and Benfleet at Campion School.
