Havering Ladies secured their first victory of the season with a 3-2 win at home to Tunbridge Wells. Havering began strongly and soon created chances which were unfortunately saved but they continued to build up pressure with Sue Harwood, Charlotte Chamberlin and Blaise Copeland making good runs from midfield. After Harwood was fouled, Chamberlin quickly pushed the ball out to Louise Burgess on the right hand side. Burgess dribbled the ball round several defenders and slipped the ball past the keeper from a narrow angle to give Havering the lead. Tunbridge began to work harder and to impose themselves on the game. Steph Prowse, Chris Noller, Wendy Schofield, Burgess and Bethan Isherwood worked hard in defence to keep chances to a minimum and keeper Sophie McCoy kept out the few shots that found their way through. However Tunbridge kept battling and pulled back an equaliser just on half time. Tunbridge began the stronger in the second half and took the lead soon into it. Havering kept battling, Emily Martin, Tess Meehan, Lauren Earle and Katie Griggs battled hard to create spaces, supporting the efforts of Harwood, Chamberlin and Copeland. The game began to get a bit scrappy with both teams having players green carded but Havering kept battling. With ten minutes to go Havering put a string of passes together, beginning with Bethan Isherwood and playing through Prowse, Noller, Chamberlin, Harwood, Griggs before reaching Burgess who was fouled in the attacking circle to win a penalty corner. Emma Isherwood struck the ball well and it deflected up off the oncoming defender's stick to loop the keeper and bring Havering level. On the restart Havering immediately won the ball back, Chamberlin chasing down well and the ensuing attack brought another penalty corner. This time Emma Isherwood slipped the ball to Chamberlin whose strike was initially saved but Harwood pounced on the rebound and Griggs tapped her shot over the line to put Havering ahead. Tunbridge tried to fight back but Havering hung on to move themselves off the bottom of the table.
