First loss of the season for Ladies 1's

Havering Ladies hosted Ashford ladies, a team on equal points with them at the top of the league prior to the start. Both teams began determined to take hold of the game. Havering Ladies hosted Ashford ladies, a team on equal points with them at the top of the league prior to the start. Both teams began determined to take hold of the game. Havering had the earlier rub of the play getting into the Ashford circle but unable to convert. Ashford quickly fought back and Havering goalkeeper Sophie McCoy made some crucial saves. Chelsea Sharp, Catherine Semon and Anna Webb all saw efforts saved ad Havering pressed forward again. The game continued with both teams playing well but unable to sneak a lead. The second half continued in very much the same vein, the Havering defence of Steph Prowse, Chris Noller, Wendy Schofield and Louise Burgess worked hard to close down Ashford attacks and to start attacking moves. As the half progressed the Havering midfield began to take control and with Semon, Sharp, Sue Harwood and Amelia Acreman making strong runs through a few more chances began to be created for Webb, Emily Gilkes-Tarsey, Rhiannon Goulden and Emma Isherwood. Webb and Isherwood combined to try to set up several shots but the Ashford keeper pulled off some good saves. With a minute to go Ashford won possession and a hard strike into the circle which clipped an attacker's stick and flew up into the Havering net gave the visitors the win. Havering were very unlucky not to come away with a deserved point having equalled Ashford in every area of the match.
