Catherine's team need to avoid defeat against local rivals Brentwood in the last match of the season to guarantee promotion back to the East League

A 2-1 win for Havering Ladies at home against Southend and Benfleet puts them on the brink of promotion to the East League with one game to go. Havering started strongly but it was the visitors who took the lead. Havering fought straight back and equalised from a penalty corner. Catherine Semon dribbled past the oncoming defenders to slot the ball into the goal. S&B came close to taking the lead again but Sophie McCoy made a fabulous save in goal to deny them. The first half continued as a bit of a midfield battle , Semon, Amelia Acreman, Lauren Earle and Chris Noller all working hard to break down potential attacks and trying to set the Havering forwards free. Rhiannon Goulden and Emily Gilkes-Tarsey made good runs down the wings causing problems for the S&B defence. Havering began the second half well, Anna Webb creating space down the middle of the pitch and a series of penalty corners were awarded. Shots went just wide or were cleared until Semon struck from the top into the corner to give Havering the lead. Havering then had a flurry o attacks, Emma Isherwood just going wide, Semon and Earle also unlucky not to be on target. S&B did not give up and the final five minutes had some nervy moments for Havering but Steph Prowse, Monica Dubb, Wendy Schofield and Sue Harwood remained composed and prevented any real threats from being made. Havering go to Brentwood next for the last game of the season knowing a win will guarantee them promotion.
