Two goals from Sue Harwood and another 3 points for the Ladies 1's

Havering travelled to Romford, the only team to have beaten them so far this season. It again proved to be a scrappy affair with Havering on the back foot for much of the opening 15 minutes. Stalwart defending from Steph Prowse, Sue Harwood, Chris Noller and Wendy Schofield prevented Romford from capitalising on their pressure with keeper Sophie McCoy saving when needed. Few chances came Havering's way in the first half as they struggled to get their usual rhythm going. The second half began equally scrappily but Havering began to string some passes together and get into the attacking 25 to put pressure on the Romford defence. Anna Webb and Vicky Lynch both worked hard to try to create opportunities. A penalty corner was eventually awarded; Harwood injected to Catherine Semon who slipped to Emma Isherwood with lots of time to place the ball at the far post for Harwood to put in and give Havering the lead. Shortly after another penalty corner went Havering's way and with a virtual carbon copy of the previous one Havering increased their lead. Semon again slipping to Isherwood who found Harwood on the far post and although the Romford keeper made an initial save Harwood was able to convert the rebound. It looked like it was going to go Havering's way after with a bout of good pressure, Emily Gilkes-Tarsey had a penalty corner 'goal' disallowed for being too high, but Romford kept hitting the ball out of defence and with one finally getting through to the forwards they were able to pull a goal back. Havering then hung on to secure the win that keeps them at the top of the Essex Premier League and on course for promotion.
