Valuable 3 points in close encounter with Chelmsford 3's

Havering travelled to Chelmsford 3s for what proved to be a scrappy game. Determined not to drop points Havering started strongly taking the lead just minutes into the match when Chris Noller fired in a strong strike that proved impossible to stop. A second was added very soon after as Noller again struck well to see Anna Webb deflect in her goalbound hit. Havering however then lapsed in concentration and allowed Chelmsford to come back into the game and pull a goal back. Havering began to press again and saw several penalty corner chances go unconverted but then a goalmouth scramble from a Catherine Semon penalty corner strike lead to Emma Isherwood forcing the ball over the line. The second half saw Chelmsford make the stronger start and despite some good saves from Sophie McCoy and strong tackles by Steph Prowse Chelmsford scored 2 more goals to make the scores equal. Havering dug deep and began to press forwards, Isherwood, Webb and Alex Semon all going close. The efforts paid off when Catherine and Lauren Earle set Alex off on a run to cross for Webb to slot home and put Havering back in the lead. With just minutes to go Noller put in a great cross which just evaded Emily Gilkes-Tarsey's stick only to then be put wide by Isherwood with a more or less open goal! Fortunately the miss proved to not be crucial and Havering hung on for a 4-3 win to remain at the top of the Essex Premier League.
