Early 'top of the table clash' proves an entertaining match

Havering Ladies played host in this early top of the table clash against Old Loughtonians 3s. It was always going to be a tough fixture and Havering took a while to settle into their game. Old Loughtonians thought they had scored an early goal but it was disallowed after the player admitted the ball had caught her leg before going into the goal. Havering began to settle but couldn't quite get into scoring opportunities. It was Loughts who took the lead when their right midfielder took the ball unopposed into the circle and fired home a cracking shot. This sparked Havering into playing with a bit more composure and determination and they were unlucky not to pull one back when Emma Isherwood dribbled the ball from the unfamiliar right back position into the circle only to see her shot go inches wide. The second half saw Havering take more control and the deserved equaliser came from a penalty corner routine as Catherine Semon's shot struck a defender's foot but fell into Alex Semon's path. Alex dribbled and passed to Isherwood who struck home from 2metres. The game looked to be heading for a draw but Loughts managed to find a way through the Havering defence of Steph Prowse, Monica Dubb, Sue Harwood and Wendy Schofield to take the lead again. Havering however were not subdued and good passing from Vicky Lynch, Catherine and Alex set debutante Anna Webb up for a one on one with the keeper which she slipped through the keeper's legs to give Havering a well earned draw.
