Havering Ladies got their League campaign off to a good start with a 5-0 win away at Wapping 4s. The game was under threat of being cancelled due to unsafe goals but Steph's Dad came to the rescue with his tool box and the game could go ahead! Havering began strongly and took the lead when Alex Semon's shot hit a defender's foot and went in. Wapping began to get into the game as Havering lost their shape for a period of time but Sophie McCoy was rarely troubled in goal. Steph Prowse and Monica Dubb soon got the defence back into control and Havering began to dominate and were awarded several penalty corners which they struggled to convert. However the second goal did finally come from a penalty corner with a fiercely struck shot from Catherine Semon. Havering went into the second half confident they could add to their tally. Suzanne Harwood and Lauren Earle began to make runs down the wings and Wapping struggled to cope with the pace and frequency. Emily Gilkes-Tarsey completed a good move by Steph and Alex with a lovely sweep into goal. Havering began to apply further pressure and Alex dribbled the ball around a defender and the goalkeeper for her second and Havering's fourth. With only a few minutes to go Suzanne's run down the right wing resulted in a cross which Emma Isherwood tapped in. A good start which Havering will hope to build on as they play hosts to Old Loughtonians 3s next week at Campion.
