Team Selection was interesting this week with some different faces and was made more interesting with 4’s keeper pulling out due to illness on Friday. Chairman Jack Barlow then stepped in but on game day broke his finger playing in his own game. Minutes before push back, defender Luke Phillips donned the keepers kit.
The game started and Thurrock took control scoring after a rebound off the goalkeeper 10 minutes in. Havering struggled to keep possession and only had one real chance in the first half with Martin John’s snap shot going just wide. Before half time Thurrock scored the second with a shot from the edge of the D creeping into the far right of the goal.
The first half ended 2-0. The second half was on whole a much better one for Havering with more chances coming from James Willcocks and Michael Caruana both having shots saved. Unfortunately nothing would come from any of Havering chances.
Thurrock on the other hand continued to add to their tally adding one from a short corner which bobbled over the keepers foot after an unfortunate defensive touch. Another was added from open play after another rebound off of the Havering keeper fell nicely for the Thurrock attackers. A fifth was close but was quickly punched out of play by Luke.
The game ended
Havering 4’s 0 - 4 Thurrock 3’s
A game Havering wanted to win but with the team changes and a difficult Thurrock team turned out to be an unfortunate loss.
