Brentwood Mens III - 3 – Havering Men II - 4
A late winner from teenager Luke Clarke saw Havering to victory in a thrilling game in the rain at Brentwood.
Havering started well and raced to an early three goal lead, with strikes from top scorer Adam Willett, veteran Mike Hinton returning from a long lay-off and Mike Caruana-Smith.
Brentwood then re-grouped and struck back just before half-time to keep in the game. Brentwood dominated the early stages of the second half and two further goals completed their comeback and levelled the scores at 3-3. Only two brilliant point blank saves from Havering 'keeper Luke Ray prevented them from taking a lead.
Havering improved as the game drew to a close with Andy Meehan in particular looking dangerous on the right wing. Just as it looked as though the points would have to be shared, Ryan Lee surged forward from right back, beat three or four defenders and crossed to Clarke who finished clinically at the far post to seal the points on his debut at this level.
