Havering Mens II 1 – Southend Mens II 0
Havering made hard work of bottom of the table Southend as a host of missed chances led to a nervy 1-0.
Top scorer Adam Willett came close in the first half, but slipped once he had rounded the 'keeper. Soon afterwards Mike Caruana-Smith opened the scoring, finishing a short-corner move from a tight angle via the post. Havering were dominating possession but continuously failed to convert the chances they created.
The visitors had two goals disallowed before the break to remind Havering that the points were not yet safe.
The hosts continued to dominate in the second half, but once again failed to convert possession into goals. Ryan Adcock missed from close range when it seemed easier to score, Chris Dunn, Zak Nerukar, James Diggins and Caruana-Smith all had chances but failed to convert.
Fortunately for Havering, the defence managed to hold out and one goal proved enough.
