Havering 2's vs Redbridge 1's

Havering looked to continue their unbeaten 2024 run against a tough Redbridge side. With key personnel missing for Havering, this was not going to be an easy task.

Havering started off fast, playing the ball into good spaces and pressuring Redbridge constantly. It didn't take long for Havering to be awarded their well deserved first short corner.

Roger Hiett, who was having a great run of games, unfortunately sustained a long term injury and so is now out for the rest of the season. In his absence, captain Ryan Lee stepped up to take the short corner. A well drilled routine, which was practised at training that week, was drilled into the keeper's pads which fell to Matt Kennedy who deftly slotted the ball away to put Havering 1-0 up.

Unfortunately, after getting this early goal, Havering didn't managed to capitalise and Redbridge came back swiftly with 2 quick goals due to unforced errors from both the defence and midfield.

In the 2nd half, Havering looked more like themselves with some fluid hockey and good transitional play. The forward line couldn't convert however but Havering definitely had the lion's share of the possession.

The Havering goalkeeper, Paul Afteni, made some sublime saves to keep Havering in it but after an errant short corner was awarded to Redbridge in the last 5 minutes, they converted it which all but sealed them the crucial 3 points.

Havering will look to pick themselves up for a tough away fixture to Braintree next weekend.
