Upminster 3's vs Havering 2's

Havering unfortunately fell to local rivals Upminster in a fiercely contested derby.

Havering conceded almost immediately from a lapse in concentration at the back. This was not the start that Havering would've wanted.

However, they got back into the game and put Upminster under pressure instantly. Havering played the ball really well in the opposition's half which led to a plethora of short corners. One of these short corners led to a penalty stroke after an Upminster defender impeded Matt Kennedy. Matt Kennedy stepped up confidently and slotted it coolly into the bottom left corner.

Early in the 2nd half, Havering's pressure continued and after another raft of short corners, Andy Greenhalgh struck the ball from the top of the D which rocketed into the back of the net.

Upminster had a rare counter attacking opportunity which saw them convert a short corner goal past the Havering keeper Paul Afteni.
Upminster followed this up by scoring another goal in quick succession, Havering were stunned as the score line was 3-2 with 15 minutes remaining.

Havering fought to the end and kept putting pressure on the Upminster backline. Another 5+ short corners were awarded to Havering and from one of these, a penalty stroke was awarded. Andy Greenhalgh confidently put the ball into the net.

Havering were looking to get all 3 points, but with one of the final touches of the ball, Upminster converted a short corner after an error from Havering defender Taylor Ahmad.

There were many positives which Havering will take from this game going forward into November and beyond.
