Havering 2s vs Romford 1s

The Havering 2s managed to get the first win on the board for the 23/24 season and it was against local rivals Romford. The 2's had a few injuries to contend with this week but still managed to put out a strong side with Alex Lee coming down and helping out after a month's absence from hockey and Alex Jupp returning to Havering whilst he works over here.

Havering started off very strongly with a lot of possession and moved the ball around very well. It only took 10 minutes when Alex Lee finished off a lovely team goal with an assist from Andy Greenhalgh. 5 minutes later, Greg Carolan poached a goal on the line to make it 2-0. Havering continued a dominating first half with a well rehearsed short corner routine which Roger Hiett finished off with precision on goal.

After scoring 3 unanswered goals, Havering were shocked when an unlikely through ball made it through to Romford's striker and he shot with power into the bottom left corner.

The 2nd half commenced with more Havering possession and Andy Greenhalgh finished off another lovely team goal to make it 4-1. THis was the best Havering have played all season with the training sessions clearly paying off! Havering players were hitting the t spot and making much better decisions with the ball.

Romford managed to pull one back when there was a crowded D but Alex Lee replied instantaneously with an amazing solo goal, dribbling past 4 defenders and rocketing a shot into the top right of the goal from the top of the D. Romford scored a consolation goal within the dying embers of the game and the final whistle went which gave Havering all 3 points in this high scoring derby.

Taylor Ahmad was voted Man of the Match after a cracking performance at LB. Havering will look to capitalise on this result going forward into Redbridge next week.
