Despite a host of chances Havering edge a 1-0 win over Harpenden.

Havering were at home for the second week in a row and were looking to add another victory at Campion after last week's 3-1 victory over Ford. Marcus Hall and Alex Jupp returned to the side but Chris Dunn and Ollie and Josh Cipa were unavailable.

Early signs were good for Havering as they had the majority of possession and looked dangerous going forward with Harry Andrews and Hall causing problems. From the first short corner of the match a fine Alastair Lewis ball found Connor Poulain at the back post, Poulain picked the ball up on his reverse and looked certain to score but fired wide of the far post. Havering continued to press and were awarded a another penalty corner. This time Ingram stepped up and hit towards goal and a miss timed shot took a deflection sending the Harpenden defense the wrong way and rolled into the bottom corner of the goal.

Havering continued to create chances but were thwarted by the visiting keeper and some poor finishing when it mattered. With time running out in the first half Havering were reduced to ten men on two occasions but managed to limit Harpenden to just one penalty corner and not a single shot on goal.

Back to full strength Havering continued to create chances but were not in control of possession as they had been in the first half. Ingram sent a handful of opportunities narrowly wide and Poulain missed another golden opportunity to score with a defender getting back to clear on the line. Havering came closest to doubling their advantage but Andrews Lob clipped the top of the cross bar and went out of play.

With minutes left on the clock Harpenden poured forward with Joe Cole having to save a deflected effort on goal off of Jack Barlows stick but Havering had done enough to claim all three points and move three points behind second place Old southendians. Havering will travel to Saffron Walden next week knowing they must win if they are to have any chance of getting back in the promotion hunt.
