Havering went down 4-2 away at an experienced and hard working Ipswich and East Suffolk side on saturday.

Hampered once again by poor availability away from home Havering were missing Chris Dunn, Mike Hinton and Mike Smith. However the away side made a promising start when within the first minute Adam Lumbers through ball found Gaz Ingram who rounded the keeper only to have his shot blocked on the line by the body of a defending player. Ingram stepped up and converted the penalty flick.

Havering played the opening fifteen minutes with confidence and moved the ball well around the pitch but within the space of two minutes found themselves 2-1 down after two Ipswich counter attacks. Ipswich grew in confidence and began to put pressure on the Havering defence who struggled to play there way back into the game before half time.

The second half started in a similar fashion to how the first had ended with Ipswich applying pressure and the home side were rewarded with a third goal. This setback finally seemed to kick Havering into life who proceeded to have the lions share of posession for the remainder of the half but despite numerous penalty corners Havering were unable to reduce the deficit. With time running out Havering were awarded another penalty flick which Ingram converted but pushing for an equaliser were once again caught on the break to leave the final scored 4-2.

Havering must improve at Home to Ely on saturday if they are to be in the promotion picture at the half way stage.
