Mens 1's get back to winning ways coming from behind to confidently take the 3 points

Havering travelled the short distance to play Ford at Redbridge Sports Centre hoping to get back to winning ways after a slow start to the season.

However like in recent weeks the first half didnt go to plan with Havering turning over the ball to the opposition at regular intervals. Ford broke the deadlock near the end of the half when a lifted ball caught the Havering defence off guard with the Ford player latching onto the ball and side stepping Nik Males before passing the ball into the empty net. Half time 1-0.

Havering started the second half much brighter and were able to keep hold of the ball and began to stretch the pitch opening up gaps in the home sides defence. Early in the half Havering pulled back level with Gaz Ingram scoring from the penalty spot after the keeper had cleared the ball with the back of his stick.

Encouraged by getting back on terms Havering continued to push and were rewarded when Adam Lumbers ball into the D was half stopped by the home keeper but Harry Andrews was on hand to pick up the rebound and finished with a neat reverse volly.

It seemed that the momentum had shifted but Havering were caught high up the pitch and punished by a quick Ford break to bring the scores back level. Undeterred Havering pushed up the pitch and were awarded a penalty corner, Lumbers initial strike was saved but Chris Dunn was on hand to push the ball in from a tight angle.

As the game was coming to a close Havering won another penalty corner and finished off any hope of another Ford come back, this time Alastair Lewis effort was blocked by the keeper and lifted up in the air, Dunn was again on hand to volley into the far corner to seal a much needed three points.

Next week Havering travel to Harpenden and will look to win back to back for the first time this season.
