Mens 1's squander a first half lead to be outplayed by Old Southendians

Havering entertained Old Southendians at Campion looking to build on last weeks moral boosting victory against rivals Upminster.

The game started well for Havering who enjoyed the majority of possession in the opening fifteen minutes Gaz Ingram went close testing the opposition goalkeeper from the first penalty corner of the match and made no mistake from the next firing the ball into the bottom corner.

Against the run of play Southendians broke down the right and played the ball into the D. A well executed reverse stick effort found the corner of the net to bring the scores level. Minutes later another Southendians attack resulted in a rather harsh penaltyflick being given for a push by Alastair Lewis. A weak flick foumd its way into the net beating Joe Cole to his left.

From what had seemed a comfortable position Havering found themselves down in the game and struggled to cope with the setback conceding a further goal before half time.

In the second half Havering struggled to find any sort of consistancy and were largly outplayed by the confident away side. In an attempt to get back into the game Havering pushed forward but once again got caught on the counter attack and foumd themselves 4-1 down. A few half chances were created and squandered with Southendians adding a fifth from a penalty corner which trickled iver the line summing up Haverings day.

Havering have no choice but to bounce back to winning ways this week against a tricky Ford side or they will find themselves in a relegation battle rather than a promotion charge.
