Broxbourne 1s vs Havering 1s

Havering travelled to Broxbourne on the Sunday to play their rearranged fixture against the unbeaten league leaders who were fresh and raring to go having not played the day before.

The prior day’s defeat weighed heavy on both the mind and body of the Havering squad, yet they were determined to retain the high level of intensity and passion displayed in the latter stages of Saturday’s game.

The youthful Broxbourne team took to the field buoyed on by a passionate crowd who clearly expected to see goals aplenty from the home team.

Broxbourne started the game at an exceptional pace with the clear intention to press high with intensity and vigour.

The pressure soon proved too much for the visitors and within 5 minutes Havering found themselves one down much to the delight of the raucous crowd.

Some hurried sideline analysis from injured player-coach Jack Barlow lead to a dynamic change to team structure.

Havering dug deep, embraced the tactical change and closed out the half without further loss.

The second half brought much of the same as the first, with the home side continuing to retain possession and troubled the Havering defensive line on regular occasion.

Havering played well and continued to thwart the home side’s efforts yet midway through the half fatigue started to set in for the visiting team and with 15 minutes to play the home side scored twice in quick succession.

Havering held strong for the remainder of the match to close out the game as a 3-0 loss which all things considered is a more than respectable score line that is testament to the grit and determination of the Havering team.
